What changes once you choose an MSP?

We’ve talked about choosing a managed service provider and how to do so, but what happens once you make that decision? Before signing up our clients will often ask, “what changes?”

Not all people are the same, but you may question some of the following changes:

Do I lose Control?

No you do not lose control.  We are your team… just as if you had a complete technology department we work for you.  You are the boss and always hold the keys to your kingdom.  For an MSP such as Envision IT Partners, you delegate what you decide needs to be delegated.  While the MSP will have access to a lot of things, you retain administrative access leaving full control of everything still in your hands. Reports are supplied giving you an overview of your IT health and we help guide you in the right direction while you retain all decision making abilities.

Do I have to change my Infrastructure?

No you do not unless it really should be upgraded.  Until we get into your system and get to know you as a company, we really do not know whether you need to change, update or reconfigure your infrastructure.  Whichever MSP you use should consider how your business works and what is happening with your current backend before offering recommendations or solutions.

Does my Support process change?

Most likely it gets better because you have a team available to your employees on a 24/7 basis.  You have unlimited access to a highly skilled set of engineers that are waiting to help you.  The process of notifying someone of an issue could change.  Rather than letting your internal IT professional know you will now submit a ticket by emailing or calling your MSP’s helpdesk.

What happens with the Management of my technology?

We will take over the management and the behind the scenes will likely be different.  Your new MSP will be off site but that doesn’t mean they are not fully aware of everything going on with your systems.  Updates, patching, preventative maintenance and monitoring will all happen in the background without you knowing.  These proactive measures are what will keep your technology healthy and limit your exposure to known threats.

Will my Costs go up?

No, they should actually go down.  This is likely going to be based on what services you sign up for and will likely be based off a flat monthly fee.  A like for like comparison typically results in cost savings which you may see reflected throughout your first few months using an MSP.

Stay tuned over the next several months as we dive deeper into what you will experience if and when you choose to work with a managed service provider.
